About the Register of Deeds office:
In January 1999 Barron County implemented a
computerized document imaging and tracting system. Since 1999 we
have seen a significant increase in recorded documents of 47%. In
2003 our office recorded a record setting 20,238 real estate
documents into our system. The future brings great excitement for
our office. By late Summer 2004 we expect to be able to offer
services in which to research property over the Internet
immediately following receipt, as well as streamlining the whole
workflow process. By implementing a robust tracting system our
office has been able to stay within it's tight budget constraints
and maximize permanent staff since 1941. |

About
Barron
County:
Barron County was established as a County in
1869 after ten years of trials and errors. By an Act of Legislature
in 1869 the name of the County was changed from the proposed
Dallas, proposed in 1859 in the honor of the Vice President of the
United States George M. Dallas, to Barron County in honor of the
late Judge Henry D. Barron, of St. Croix Falls, Polk County. It
might be interesting to know that there was also an argument as to
where the County Seat should be located, Rice Lake or Barron. At
one point in time the actual "chair" that stored the documents was
stolen from Barron and moved to Rice Lake. However, the "chair"
mysteriously arrived back in Barron and there it has stayed under
lock & key. Presently, the "chair" can be viewed at the office of
the County Clerk ~ in the vault. Currently Barron County has a
population of 45,633 and covers 864 square miles (554,240 Acres).
Barron County is comprised of 25 Townships that contains, 7
Villages and 4 Cities. We look forward to visiting with you in
Barron County |
