About the Register of Deeds office:
The Eau claire County Register of Deeds Office
recorded over 36,000 documents in 2003. They have a staff of 5
people plus one half-time person. Eau Claire County has been
scanning documents for over two years using their in-house system.
Mary has worked with her Information Technology director to
upgrade to a better indexing and imaging system. Plans have been
made to convert the index and images to the iDoc system offered by
Fidlar Software. This will allow them to offer online access and
electronic recording. |

About
Eau Claire
County:
The lumbering industry brought settlers to
the county in the 1800's and when the pine forests were
extinguished by 1900, Scandinavian farmers established dairy farms
in the area. One farmer began raising horse radish and eventually,
Eau Claire became the Horse Radish Capital of the nation. Farm
Progress Days began in the county in 1953 as the "National Plowing
Contest." Eau Claire County offers significant educational
opportunities through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and
the Chippewa Valley Technical College. Thousands of country
western fans flock to Eau Claire for "Country Jam USA" every year.
