Kay Walsh:
elected
Register of Deeds and assumed her duties on January 3, 1995.
Kathleen, better known as Kay, began as deputy in the office in
January, 1978. She has served as Chair of District 5, 1st,
2nd, & 3rd Vice President of the Wisconsin
Register of Deeds Association and President of the Association
June, 2000 – June 2001.Kay is a lifelong
resident of St. Croix County. She attended Hammond Public Schools
and received a BS degree from UW-Stout in Menomonie. After
graduation, she was County Home Extension Agent in Barron and
Outagamie Counties. She taught adult sewing classes and was a
substitute teacher at Somerset High School.
Kay and her husband, Patrick, have 2 daughters,
3 sons, 2 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons.
Kay has served on the Somerset Public Library
Board of Trustees for 20+ years and is currently President. She
serves as lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Anne’s Church and
has served on the School Board at St. Anne’s School. For 15 years,
Kay was the General Leader of the local 4-H club. She enjoys
reading, sewing and family activities. |

About the Register of Deeds office:
we have five permanent staff that provides efficient and
courteous service. We automated our real estate recording process
January, 1999 and now scan all the documents. Presently we have 6
computers available in the office for public access to the real
estate records. We also offer on-line services (see link above).
For people interested in genealogy, our Marriage records began in
1852, Birth in 1860 and Death in 1876.

County:
(Gateway to Western Wisconsin)
is the fastest growing county in the state, located on Interstate
94, borders on the St. Croix River. It is 729.45 sq. miles. The
population in 2000 was 63,155, a 25% increase from 1990. St. Croix
County has a total of 21 towns, 9 villages, 3 cities and 2 wards
of River Falls are located in St. Croix County. Hudson is the
county seat. On June 14, 1993, county offices moved into the newly
constructed Government Center.
There are four county owned parks plus Willow
River State Park which offers beautiful scenery, camping, picnic
grounds, nature trails, and cross country ski trails. There are
approximately 100 miles of designated snowmobile trails in the
county.
